Italy needed to avoid defeat against Ukraine in the third to secure an automatic qualification spot.
Reigning Euro champions, Italy have secured their place in Euro 2024 which will be held in Germany next summer. The Azzurri qualified despite a goalless draw with Ukraine which was their final Euro qualifying encounter.
Italy faced Ukraine in a do-die affair at the BayArena in Leverkusen on Monday night. Both teams had the same points in Group C before the final game. England already qualified as the topper of the group.

Luciano Spaletti’s side almost secured their chances when they beat North Macedonia 5-2 in their penultimate Group C match last Friday.
Italy should have been ahead inside the opening seven minutes, but Federico Chiesa blazed a glorious chance over the crossbar from close range after Nicolo Zaniolo headed the ball into his path at the far post.
Ukraine have to settle for third place in Group C, but they are still in the hunt for Euro 2024. They have qualified for the playoffs.
