Few stars ended up dropped from Juventus Champions League squad.

New Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri has named his 25 man squad as stipulated by UEFA with the players who will participate in the 2019-20 Champions League.

With Juventus’ front office unable to offload some of the players expected to be sold over the course of the now-closed summer transfer window, the result was a few familiar names being excluded from the upcoming Champions League group stage squad list.

As a result, defender Giorgio Chellini, midfielder Emre Can and striker Mario Mandzukic have been omitted from the list. Italy international Chiellini has been left out due to his recent knee injury which is expected to keep him out until at least early next year, but it is Can and Mandzukic who are paying the price for the inflated squad.

Germany international Can, who is preparing for his country’s Euro 2020 qualifier against the Netherlands, is quoted by newspaper BILD as saying: “The conversation lasted barely a minute and I have not had any explanation. It has made me very angry.”

On the other hand, Mandzukic has been dropped from the Bianconeri’s starting XI since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri as manager and the striker is yet to play a Serie A game this season.

The full 22-man list:

1 Szczesny
2 De Sciglio
4 de Ligt
5 Pjanic
6 Khedira
7 Ronaldo
8 Ramsey
10 Dybala

The Italian champions will play in Group B alongside Spanish side Atletico Madrid, Bundeliga stronghold Bayern Levrkusen and Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.
