Dembele has joined Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez on Barcelona’s injury list.
The French forward suffered a hamstring strain in the same match where Suarez was forced off.
Barcelona‘s terrible luck with injuries this season shows no sign of slowing down. After Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were ruled out with calf injuries, Ousmane Dembele is the next one set to spend time in the treatment room.
On Friday night, the Frenchman ended the game against Athletic Club at the San Mames with muscle problems which were clear on television as he felt his leg as he walked off. He finished the game but the discomfort continued, with club medics setting an appointment for Saturday morning to perform tests to understand the extent of his injury.
Those involved were left stunned when the winger did not turn up, according to Spanish Marca. They tried to get hold of the Frenchman, remaining angry when Dembele eventually arrived on Monday to undergo the tests.
“A medical examination on Ousmane Dembele has diagnosed a strain of his left hamstring and the Frenchman is set to be out for approximately five weeks as a result, the club said on their website.
Marca‘s report continues that the club’s directors, the medical staff and even his own teammates are furious with the lack of a reaction from the player.
Since arriving from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017 for €120 million, Dembele’s time at Barca has been plagued with injuries, inconsistent performances, and trouble off-the-pitch such as arriving late for training.
