It seems that racism has won in Ukraine…
The Brazilian will now miss one match.
The Ukrainian Football Association banned Brazilian Taison one game for his reaction to racism he endured while on the pitch with Shakhtar Donetsk two weekends ago.
Taison made a gesture towards the Dynamo Kyiv fans and booted the ball into the stands during game played on 10 November, when fans abused him with monkey chants. He was given a red card and was visibly upset along with fellow Brazilian Dentinho while walking off the pitch when referees removed all players per UEFA protocol.
The UFA gave Taison a one-game ban, per the Associated Press. Dynamo is fined €18,000 and will have to play one game behind closed doors. It is also on probation for the remainder of the season.
FIFPRO, football’s world players’ union, said Tiason’s ban was disappointing.
STATEMENT
We are very disappointed by the decision of the Ukrainian FA to hand Taison a one-match ban. Sanctioning a victim of racial abuse is beyond comprehension and it plays into the hands of those who promote this kind of disgraceful behaviour.https://t.co/TeC0Z7hGEg

Sadly, that has not been the case and Igor Gryshchuk, secretary of control and disciplinary committee of the Ukrainian Association of Football, has made some pretty controversial comments on the issue.
“Why it was important to hold the player accountable for such behavior? Because the gesture was also broadcasted on TV,” he said, per Independent. “We understand that the player addressed it to the stalls only and to the fans who expressed certain emotions against him – but those who watched the game on TV, including the children, could not perceive the gesture in a proper way.
“In any case, this behavior and reaction deserved a red card, referee did a right thing when he used it, in our opinion. That is why the player had to be held accountable.”
