Robson-Kanu: We can hurt England

The winger backs Wales to challenge England on Thursday

Wales match winner Hal Robson-Kanu believes that their squad have the quality to hurt England, after beating Slovakia 2-1 on Saturday.

In the Dragon’s first appearance at a European Championship, Wales got off to the perfect start when Gareth Bale gave Chris Coleman’s side the lead, before Kanu’s scuffed effort late in the game was enough to snatch victory, having been pegged back by Slovakia.

However, despite the Three Lions being the favourites to win Thursday’s meeting, Robson-Kanu believes his side have what it takes to overcome Roy Hodgson’s men.

“Preparations have already started. We’ve been in the gym this morning and our focus is very much on the next game,” said Robson-Kanu.

“I think everyone knows what England have with the quality of players they have in the team. We will be fully aware of what to expect.

“Our approach won’t change. It’s always about what we can do, how we can affect the opposition.

“I think if we implement that correctly, we definitely have players that will hurt them.”

A late goal from Russia denied England three points, after a fine free-kick from Eric Dier had given England the lead in the second half, meaning Wales top Group B by two points.
