Newcastle’s takeover in the early summer of 2020 is perhaps one of the rare happy news in football this year.

The club has historically been one of the biggest in England and despite their fall from grace in the recent past, they are still regarded nationally in England as a club with great value and tradition. After years of suffering at the hands of Mike Ashley and being saved face by good managers like Rafa Benitez, the Toon finally have what they deserve – a new owner.

And it is not just any new owner, it is the richest owner ever in football. They are planning to not just buy the club as expected – but to make Newcastle the king of the mountain once again. They have identified a number of star players to pick from this summer including the likes of Gareth Bale and Philippe Coutinho.

One local player who they are keeping their eye on is John Stones. The former Everton defender joined Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. He has improved even more with his skills on the ball and is a stable defender but has been unable to stamp his mark on the Premier League or for the national defender.

Such a talented player with a point to prove might just be the best fit for Newcastle at the moment who would have to go through a transition phase at the least before hitting the days of glory once again.
