Both Everton and Newcastle will battle it out to sign Manchester City’s out of favour midfielder Jack Rodwell in the summer.
Rodwell endured a tough season, and had rarely featured in Pellegrini’s first team plans in their Premier League and League Cup winning campaign’s.
The 23 year old has made just seven League starts since his £12 million move from Everton in the summer of 2012, and looks set to exit the Etihad to seek first team football.
And that could come in the form of a move back to Goodison Park, where he spent several years in the clubs famed academy.
Martinez is keen to bring him, and Gareth Barry to the club, with Barry also set to leave City on a free this summer, following a successful loan deal at Everton last season.
Alan Pardew is also keen on the midfielder, and may table a bid soon.
