Liverpool are preparing to make a whopping £18million offer for Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony.

The Reds are set for a busy Summer after the board promised to give Brendan Rodgers money to spend due to them reaching the Champions League for the first time in five seasons, and a new striker and some defenders are high on Rodgers’ wishlist.

Despite having Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez, Liverpool are keen to add a third powerful striker to their ranks after Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto failed to make an impact at Anfield during their debut season, and Bony is their number-one target after he had a fruitful campaign in Wales.

The Ivorian netted over 20-times for Gary Monk’s men and has also been watched by Premier League rivals Arsenal, and despite Monk stating the striker wasn’t for sale, a formal bid of just under £20m could change the clubs mind.

Monk has already ruled out the potential sale of injury-hit Michu, and he may now have to fight off interest for the 25-year-old who netted 25 goals in all competitions in his debut season.

Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested, but it’s Liverpool who are planning to make the first move with a formal bid expected to be offered before this Summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
