Everton to offer Gareth Barry three-year deal

Gareth Barry may have been overlooked for the England squad by Roy Hodgson, but Everton are planning to offer him a three-year deal worth £50,000 a week. The midfielder is currently on loan at the Goodison Park club from Manchester City and he has impressed boss Roberto Martinez with his skills and leadership ability.

Martinez has also called on England boss Hodgson to recall the player, who celebrated his 33rd birthday last week, because of his outstanding form. It looks, however, as if that particular boat has sailed but the Sunday People are reporting that Everton are happy to offer him a deal which will keep him at the club until age 36.

Two of the three years will be guranteed and the third will be offered if he plays enough games. Barry will become a free agent in the summer and will have to accept a significant pay cut from his current Man City wages but he seems settled in at Goodison and he could sturggle to find a better offer than the one currently on offer at Everton.
