Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes FC Barcelona should be scared of his side as they were drawn against each other in today’s Champions League last-16 draw.
The Chilean boss was reacting to the draw which took place this morning and he even revealed that he doesn’t think the Catalan club are as good as they used to be.
This is the first time in the club’s history that they have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, and Pellegrini is adamant that they are not underdogs going into the clash with Barca.
‘I think Barcelona will be very concerned that they have drawn us. They are not the team of two years ago.’
‘I think it will be a beautiful game [against Barcelona]. Two very good teams and we will see in February which team arrives at the best moment.’
Despite Pellegrini downplaying Barcelona, his tricky midfielder David Silva believes that they are still a strong force and will still be tough opposition for City.
Silva told Marca: ‘There is a lot of talk about them at the moment but they are first in everything.
‘People say they are not playing well but they are top in Spain and they topped their group. I would like us to be in their situation.’
