Manchester United January-signing, Juan Mata, could be on his way out of the club just five months later, as new-manager Louis Van Gaal undergoes a complete squad transformation.

The former-Chelsea signing could be a victim of Van Gaal’s changes and it’s reported that Spanish giants FC Barcelona are interested in signing the Spaniard, and would even pay arond £40million for the playmaker.

Despite taking time to settle at Old Trafford, Mata ended the season in good form, contributing with both goals and assists, but with the Dutch manager set to take over at the club, he could decide to sell the 26-year-old if he doesn’t feature in his plans.

United paid Chelsea £38m for the Spanish international, and despite suffering at the start of his Old Trafford career, Mata insists that he has no regrets leaving Stamford Bridge.

“I don’t think about that. I do not regret anything in that sense,” he explained.

“The first six months of the season were difficult because I did not play as much as I would have liked. But I always respected my team-mates, tried to make the most of the opportunities I had and nothing more.

“In the end there was the opportunity to go to Manchester United, a great offer, and the club also understood that it was a good choice. So the transfer happened.”
