Defender has spent solitary season in England

Chelsea defender Filipe Luis is in talks over a move to Serie A side, Inter Milan, according to reports in Italy.

Brazil international Luis, joined the West-Londoners in a £16m deal from Atletico Madrid last summer, but failed to gain regular first-team football.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a return to La Liga side Atletico, but according to Italian publication La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Luis is currently locked in talks with Inter Milan.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini, who’s side finished eighth in the 2014/15 Italian top-flight, is keen to add the defender to his ranks, as he looks to bring European Cup football back to the San Siro.

Luis, who featured 29 times for the title-winning Chelsea last term – is also wanted by former employers Atletico, as well as Inter’s Serie A rivals, Napoli and Lazio.

Filipe Luis: A man in-demand

The player, who is on international duty with Brazil at the Copa America tournament in Chile, recently spoke out regarding his future:

“It’s difficult to talk about my future because I do not really know what will happen,” Luis said.

“I have a contract with Chelsea and I belong to the club, so it’s up to them.”

Despite Inter’s move for Luis, Atletico are the favourites to land the player this summer.

And Madrid’s eccentric manager, Diego Simeone still hopes that he can lure Luis back to the Spanish capital.

“[Filipe Luis] is a player we like a lot as a kid but who also knows us well and has given a lot to the team,” Simeone said. “I hope it happens.”
