Former Coach Calls Inter Milan A Total Hornet's Nest

Frank de Boer opened up on his time at Inter Milan.

The former Ajax boss believed that the situation around Inter during his reign was toxic.

Boer was fired after only a few months in charge in 2016. Inter have recovered some of their glory under current boss, Antonio Conte following heavy spendings in the transfer window.

When reflecting on his time at San Siro, Boer told AD, “You carry things inside you, it’s normal. But at the same time, they were incomparable situations, you know.

“Inter were such an unbelievable hornet’s nest that I dare say almost no coach had managed to do well at the time. It turned out to be true because after me three other coaches tried. Obviously, I should have done things differently, but the whole dynamic around the club was so difficult.”

Inter are second in the Serie A table currently behind next-door rivals, AC Milan. Reigning champions, Juventus are worse off at sixth under Andrea Pirlo. Conte made a real attempt for the league title and Europa League trophy last season but ended up without either.

Inter spent the period post Jose Mourinho’s departure going through a round of coaches who never really fit. Conte’s philosophy has the ability to take them far but he will only prove critics wrong when he actually wins some silverware.
