Raphael Varane is currently considering his future at Real Madrid. The central defender has a battle on his hands to secure a permanent spot at the back, as Sergi Ramos is set to commit his future to Real, and his team-mate, Pepe, is also to be offered a new deal.
Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep the French international at the Bernabeu, but with Pepe and Ramos being the Italian’s number one choice pairing in the heart of his defence, Varane may want to look elsewhere for his football.
Manchester United and Chelsea are keen admirers, with United being the player’s preferred destination, however, he does know Jose Mourinho well, as it was the Portuguese maestro that brought Varane from France to Real when he was a teenager.
In September 2014, Varane signed a new six-year contract that will keep him at Real Madrid until 2020, but as with all contracts these days, there will be a ‘buy-out’ clause, so watch this space to see where the talented Frenchman ends up.
