Real Madrid got their man, Gareth Bale, for a record fee of £85.3m.
The 24-year-old expressed his happiness over the switch to the Bernabeu by saying it’s been his dream to play for Real Madrid.
Although he’s very happy to finally have made his boy-dream come true, he’s been quick to thank Tottenham’s “unbelievable” fans for their support after spending 6 seasons at White Hart Lane.
Gareth Bale told BT Sport: “The fans have been absolutely unbelievable with me. They’ve supported me through the bad times and believed in me. They were amazing and Tottenham will always have a place in my heart. I hope they understand Real Madrid is an absolute massive, massive club and they will understand and respect my decision.”
Gareth Bale won the PFA player and young player of the year awards last season as he scored 21 Premier League goals for Spurs.
