French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has admitted that he rejected a move to Arsenal so he could sign for Inter Milan from Monaco.

The 22-year-old was expected to join Premier League big-boys Arsenal this summer, but Kondogbia thinks the Serie A is more suited to his development as a football player.

The France international, who cost the Italian giants £29million, has revealed manager Roberto Mancini was a big part of his decision to join the Italian giants.

Kondogbia revealed why he chose Inter over Arsenal, he said: “I chose Serie A because this is the right moment and the right league for me to improve as a player.

“I felt Inter were closer to me and speaking to Mancini confirmed that feeling. I had no hesitations in making my choice.

“It’s normal there are expectations, but so far I have not felt pressure, just a lot of enthusiasm from the fans. We are eager to do well and to win. We’ll have work to do this season

“I’ve shown what I can do so far, which is why there are such expectations, but I can grow and hope to do well in this squad with so many champions.” he added.
