Clubs are now scouting neutral venues to finish the current season – as fast and as safely as possible. However, plans are also being formulated for the next season, which in all probability will start after a month’s break once the current season is over.
The 2020-21 season will also be played without any fans since the situation does not seem to be improving anytime soon, according to Sky Sports. It is also believed that vaccines for the coronavirus disease shall also not be developed before 2020. Thus, the best option will be to play the next season entirely behind closed doors.
This plan of action for next season might have a drastic impact on the finances of the club, potentially draining them of most financial resources. The clubs plan to spend next to nothing on the transfers which might happen in the upcoming summer transfer window. Already, the pandemic measures have delivered a major hit to the Premier League clubs’ finances, and it’s not going to get much better in the coming months.
