Barcelona’s new signing Antoine Griezmann has said that he is looking forward to playing with Lionel Messi.
Griezman signed for Barcelona just days back on a transfer fee of €120 million which is the joint 4th highest transfer in football history. However, Atletico Madrid are now demanding another €80 million for Griezmann as he agreed terms with Barcelona back when his release clause was €200 million.
After securing the move he so wanted, Griezmann is now purely concentrated on his new project which sees him play with Lionel Messi.
Griezmann told Barcelona’s official site: “I’m looking forward to seeing what Messi’s like on a day-to-day basis in training. Playing next to him is an incredible joy. I’m really looking forward to working with my new-team mates and with the boss, and playing at Camp Nou and hopefully winning a lot of things.”
Last June, in an interview with Sport, Messi said that Antoine Griezmann is the kind of player Barcelona needed to win the Champions League. The Argentina stated: “I am in agreement that to win the Champions League again we need to have the best players. And Griezmann is one of them. If the club sign him, brilliant. I don’t know if he’s the priority. That depends on the signing committee and the coach. I can only say that to win the Champions League you have to have the best players. And he is very good.”
With Griezmann in their squad, there’s no doubt that Barcelona have the kind of squad that could lift the Champions League next year.
The Frenchman’s presentation at Barca will under go his medical at Barcelona today before signing his contract and being presented as a Barcelona player.
