Guardiola admit he was wrong about Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said that he was wrong to refer Tottenham Hotspur as the ‘Harry Kane team’. Last year, Guardiola used the term, implying that Spurs were reliant solely on Kane. Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino thought that Guardiola made a disrespectful comment about the club. Guardiola said that he meant to praise Kane but his comment came out differently.

However, the Spaniard thinks that Spurs have proven him completely wrong through their performances. He said, “They show me how wrong I was. When you play against the contenders, it’s almost six points, isn’t it? These are important. I don’t know what’s happened in the past but it’s true that the strong teams are making a lot of points, they are not dropping points easily.

That’s why maybe the games against the contenders are becoming so important. We’ve started with three games away against them. That’s why it is so important to take those points.”

Manchester City take on Spurs tonight at Wembley. Spurs have enjoyed their best Premier League start and are currently just two points behind City. Manchester City will have to win the match if they are to go at the top of the Premier League table. However, if Spurs win, then they will overtake Arsenal and enter the top four.
