Arsenal showing surprising interest in Manchester United defender
Arsenal are reportedly looking at Manchester United defender Jonny Evans as a possible summer signing.
Reports this week have claimed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hopeful he can lure the Northern Irishman to the Emirates, with a bid of around £10m to be expected.
The 27 year-old has just one year left on his current Old Trafford deal and with potential centre back signings of Sergio Ramos and Nicolas Otamendi, Evans may be forced out of the side.
Arsenal Need Depth/Face Competition
Wenger is thought to be keen on Evans as the Frenchman has only Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista to call upon in that position.
The Gunners face competition to sign the defender though as West Brom are also thought to be interested are willing to put forward a similar bid.
The Baggies already captured former Red Devil Darren Fletcher in January, and boss Tony Pulis will be hopeful of reuniting Fletcher with his ex-team mate.
