Chelsea’s interim-manager, Guus Hiddink, has discussed the topic of a possible summer departure of his goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois.

The Blues’ Belgian stopper was quoted in his homeland during the international break, that a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer months could potentially be a possibility.

In recent days, Barcelona have been linked with a move in the region of £75m to take the 23-year-old to the Nou Camp, and back to Spain, where he won the domestic La Liga title whilst on loan at Atletico Madrid in May 2014.

Speaking to Belgian broadcaster RTBF, the keeper responded to a question about his Chelsea future by saying:”I don’t know. I still have a contract for three years so we’ll see what Chelsea want too.”

His interim-manager, Hiddink, responded in his pre-match press conference prior to the game against Aston Villa, by casting his eye on recent developments.

Hiddink said: “I don’t know what he has said – I haven’t read it – but formally he is under contract and what I know from him is he and his family like to be in London and at the club.

“It is difficult to react to what has been said – yes or no – or has it been translated or mis-translated.

“I always like to give a comment when I’ve got an issue that may be a little bit tricky, but I also like to have the opinion of the player as well.

“Sometimes things can be a little bit mis-communicated and then you get a lot of spin off. Knowing him a bit, I don’t want to overvalue his comments.”
