Harry Redknapp slams former-team

Former-Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes his old-side looked like they had never played football with each other during their 6-0 thrashing by Manchester City on Sunday and the now-Queens Park Rangers boss believes they have failed to replace Gareth Bale despite spending ÂŁ100m on new faces.

Andre Villas-Boas is under a lot of pressure currently at White Hart Lane after back-to-back defeats have left Spurs ninth in the league and eight points behind league leaders Arsenal.

It is also believed a lot of the players are feeling unsettled after Boas’ comments after the City game.

The Portuguese manager said his players should be ashamed and embarrassed after they were demolished by Manuel Pellegrini’s men and the club’s former-boss has now weighed in on the performance from the Etihad Stadium.

‘For the first time, Tottenham did look like a bunch of strangers on Sunday,’ said Redknapp. ‘They have got lots of attacking players. They have almost become overloaded with the same type of player.

‘In the past, when they had Gareth Bale, he was such a fantastic talent that he would pull them out of trouble.

‘There were lots of games where there were two minutes to go and suddenly a bit of magic from Gareth Bale and three points were in the bag. Well, they have lost that magic now.

‘He was special. It has been difficult to replace him and that is a big problem for them.’

‘Tottenham will pick up. They have got a great game this weekend’, added the Queens Park Rangers boss. ‘If I was managing Tottenham, I would be happier playing Man United than I would Stoke.

‘It’s a game where Tottenham can have a real go. I’d rather have that than a game playing a team that you are expected to win against and it goes wrong again.’
