Jorginho believes that Hazard can realise his full potential at Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho believes that his club teammate Eden Hazard can become the best player in the world if he continues to excel in his new role. Hazard has been deployed in a new centre-forward role by manager Maurizio Sarri in his front three and the Belgian has done exceedingly well playing through the centre.
Alvaro Morata has netted five goals in the Premier League this term but hasn’t been backed by Sarri while Giroud has found the net only once this term. The failure of the centre-forwards has forced the Italian to use the Belgian as the false nine owing to his superior technical abilities.
Hazard has been in fine form in the Premier League this season, accumulating 10 goals and 9 assists and went past the 100-goal mark for the Blues in the 2-1 victory over Watford during the festive period.
And Jorginho believes that Hazard’s new role as a centre-forward will help him to score more goals and rival Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe for the individual honours. Hazard has kept his desires of winning the Ballon d’Or no secret, hinting at a possible move to Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract in 2020.
“With the potential he has, if he wants, he can be the best in the world,” Jorginho told Sky Sports.
“In the new role he’s playing, he can score more goals in the position he has and he has the potential to do so.”
