Javier Hernandez has admitted that he needed to leave Manchester United for the sake of his career, according to the Daily Express.

The Mexican international signed a season long loan deal with Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid, with the striker likely to be the first of many Old Trafford departures on deadline day.

‘Chicharito’ as he is known, aged 26, departs United after four years at the club, with Hernandez enduring a tough spell at the club under David Moyes, and later Louis Van Gaal.

Speaking at his presentation in Madrid, Hernandez stated to the media: “No one can deny that it’s a dream to play at a club like Madrid; I’ve come here to make my mark.

“I needed a move like this; they demand 100 per cent here at Real Madrid.”

Real have the option to buy Hernandez on a permanent level, once his loan deal comes to an end.
