Jamie Vardy reveals time Chelsea boss swore at him in tunnel

Leicester City star Jamie Vardy has revealed he knew he had made it when Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho started swearing at him in the tunnel.

The two met in the tunnel after Chelsea beat Leicester 3-1 at the King Power Stadium last season, and Mourinho complimented the striker for his never-say-die attitude.

Vardy is known to run his legs off for the full 90-minutes, and on that day he gave John Terry and Gary Cahill the runaround despite the result.

Speaking in a recent interview, Vardy told the tale of when he bumped into Mourinho, and he admitted that The Special One was very complimentary.

Vardy Tells Tale

He said: “I can’t repeat EXACTLY what he said – you wouldn’t be able to put it in the paper!

“He came up to me outside the dressing room and basically said ‘Do you ever stop running?’

“That’s quite a compliment coming from him. It was brilliant and I had to just have a little laugh about it.

“He didn’t have to come over and say anything. But for him to think I was a nuisance was great – it’s probably what most people think anyway.”
