Arsenal midfielder, Francis Coquelin, has admitted that he will have no regrets if he is forced to quit The Gunners in order to get regular first-team football.

The Frenchman has had a breakthrough season this year after injuries to Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta forced Arsene Wenger to call him back from his loan-deal at Charlton Athletic.

Since returning from the League One side, Coquelin has become one of Arsenal’s most crucial players in the heart of their midfield, but with Wenger still interested in signing a defensive midfielder at the end of the season, the 23-year-old has admitted that he’ll leave the club if he has to.

“There are only two of us who have made it into the Gunners first team from my generation, those of us who won titles with the youth teams. Wilshere and I.

“There was also Gilles Sunu, who is playing in France. The others are in the 2nd and 3rd divisions of English football.

“I have always had confidence in myself. My only regret would have been not to have been able to show what I knew how to do.

“Now I have got the chance to.”

“If tomorrow, I was asked to leave, I would have no regrets.”

Despite admitting he will leave if forced, Coquelin has recently signed a new long-term deal until 2019.
