Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas could be on his way out of the Bernabeu after becoming fed-up with spending most of him time on the bench, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
Despite his legendary status in Spain and at Madrid, Casillas has fallen from the top, right to the bottom after being originally dropped by Jose Mourinho last season.
Diego Lopez was the man that dislodged the former-number one and it appears that new boss, Carlo Ancelotti, agreed with Mourinho, as he has kept faith in Lopez and has left Casillas on the bench.
We are talking about one of the greatest ever goalkeepers, who has won everything there is to win in the game basically, and that is why he refuses to end his career being a bench-player despite it being for the club he loves.
Ballague expects him to depart Madrid after 24-years next Summer after the World Cup.
He told Revista de la Liga: “Manchester City definitely want Iker Casillas for next season. He’s known about it for a while, but they are not the only team that are after Iker Casillas.
“It will be up to him what he does next, obviously. But if he continues to not play, and he won’t unless Diego Lopez gets injured, then he wants to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season.
“He’s had enough and he’s imagining the possibility of playing abroad. Although he loves the Premier League, maybe it doesn’t suit his game as much as the Italian league or the German league.
“But he’s going to have offers and if he continues like this, he will leave Real Madrid.”
