Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is desperate to get injured midfielder Jack Wilshere fit and ready for this Summer’s World Cup in Brazil after the 21-year-old was ruled out for six weeks due to an ankle injury.

The England international suffered a broken ankle on Wednesday evening during their friendly with Denmark at Wembley, and there are now fears that the youngster will miss his second World Cup through injury.

Wilshere was ruled out throughout the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and he could now miss the Brazil World Cup due to not being fit.

Six weeks is likely to keep the midfielder out until mid-April, and the England squad gets announced early-May.

Despite the injury, Wenger is desperate to make sure Wilshere is fit in time for the Summer’s tournament.

“To go to a World Cup for a player is immense and I will do absolutely everything so that he can get there,” said Wenger.

“A fracture is a fracture, it is not muscular or a ligament. Once it is healed, you do not have to have any restriction in your preparation.”
