On-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has sent Jose Mourinho a message claiming that he is ready to start for his side and is ready for Champions League football.

The Belgium striker has been a real force in the Premier League over the last two seasons, first with West Bromwich Albion, and now with Everton, but the 20-year-old is now ready to step it up a level and play for his parent club and also feature in Europe’s best competition, the Champions League.

Despite feeling ready for the next level, Lukaku knows that the final decision will be made by Mourinho, but the player believes that he is ready for anything at Stamford Bridge.

“I’m turning 21, I’ve been a professional for five years already. It is time,” Lukaku said.

“It is high time that I play in the Champions League. It is the next step I need in my development. Full stop.

“Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney were experienced already at that level when they were just 23-24 years old. I want to play Champions League football now. I must now show I’m ready for it.

“I still have two years on my contract and I know Chelsea follow my development. In the end it depends on what the manager thinks about me.”
