Inter will open contact negotiations with Icardi soon
Mauro Icardi has been very pivotal for the Italian side Inter Milan. He has been very consistent in scoring goals for them and thus lead to interest from Real Madrid, who are looking to buy a striker this summer. Inter in recent years has been unable to compete for Domestic and European titles and Icardi may be tempted to join the Spanish giants.
But Inter’s director of sport Piero Ausilio believes that they have no reason to fear that the Argentinian will leave them in near future as they are planning to open negotiations over a new contract when the season ends. Though Icardi is contracted with the club till 2021, the club wants him to extend his stay even further and are very confident that he will sign a new contract in the summer.
“There are no figures, there have been no meetings, there is only the desire and the pleasure of moving forward together,” he told Mediaset Premium, quoted by calciomercato. “We will talk about it at the end of the season.
“There is no problem, as he has another three years on his deal, this is the important thing. Icardi is important for the club and he knows it.
“He has already renewed his contract three times since he came to Inter. We’re happy to keep him with us for many more years.”
The 25 year old has scored 24 goals and assisted 1 in the league for Inter this season. In last 2 matches, he has scored 6 goals.
