It will be weird without Ferguson, admits Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that it will be weird facing Manchester United on Sunday without coming up against Sir Alex Ferguson.

The longest serving manager in England retired this Summer and was replaced by David Moyes, who has had a slow start to his United career, much like Ferguson did when he took over.

Wenger and Ferguson enjoyed a competitive relationship during their reigns at United and Arsenal respectively, but the Frenchman, who is still going strong at the Emirates, has admitted that it will be strange not seeing Sir Alex in the dugout on Sunday.

“It will be a bit strange without Sir Alex Ferguson there on Sunday,” Wenger said.

“David Moyes has shown great competence at Everton, so you need to leave him time to really get a grip on Manchester United, and he is slowly doing that. You see it now in the results.

“When someone has been there for 26 years and goes, it takes time for the guy who comes in.

“It is very dangerous and difficult for the manager who comes in. For me, Moyes is dealing very well with the situation.”
