The midfielder is a free agent right now

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere announced last week that he will leave the club after failing to sign a contract extension with the club. He was in the club’s released player list on Friday and is a free agent right now.

The England International, who has been at the club since 9, made it clear that his preferred option was to stay at his boyhood club even before Arsene Wenger retired. The Frenchman has also expressed his desire to keep him at the club beyond this summer.

The 26 year old was offered a new deal but had to take a 25 per cent pay-cut on his £120,000-a-week wages and was prepared to take the pay cut.

But the midfielder changed his mind after a meeting with the new manager Unai Emery as he was concerned about his role under the former PSG boss. He told him that he would likely to be a bit part player in the upcoming season.

He wanted to play regular football in the next season and believes it would stagnate his career if he doesn’t get regular game time. Thus deciding to leave the Gunners after spending 17 years at the club.

Wilshere has been linked with host of clubs but yet to decide where he will move next. Though he hasn’t ruled out a move abroad.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after filming A League of Your Own, He said: “I am willing to go abroad if the right opportunity comes up. Also, everyone knows I like the Premier League and the battle of it.

“It is literally the best thing that comes up and the best opportunity that we will take. I am not really in any rush, today [Saturday] is actually my last day with my contract at Arsenal, so it’s been a bit of a strange day.

“I have played 10 years as a professional there and had 17 years at the club. We are looking at things and I am keeping myself fit. So if something does come up I am ready to go.”
