Arsenal midfielder won’t be back until February

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere has had yet another setback in his recovery and won’t be back until February.

The England international was originally expected back in time for the busy Christmas period, but that was then pushed back to the New Year after further tests and scans.

However, Wenger has now revealed that he is not sure when the injury-prone midfielder will be back, but he does know that it won’t be January.

Wilshere, who ended last season in fine form, suffered an injury in training ahead of the season and has not featured since, but it looks like he’ll have to wait even longer to make his return.

February Return

When asked about the 23-year-old, Wenger said: “He will not be back before February. That’s for sure.

“I say February but honestly I don’t know. I let him do his recovery. It’s going slowly.

“Once he goes outside to train and is back again into sharp, hard work physically, you count five or six weeks.

“At the moment he is not there yet.”
