Jamie Carragher believes United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic should be able to beat N’Golo Kante to win this season’s Player of the Year award.
Kante is one of the clear early favourites to take the prize at the end of this season, However, he faces tough competition from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, and not to forget Alexis Sanchez and Harry Kane.
Meanwhile, Zlatan has netted 26 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions since his arrival at Manchester United, and Carragher believes the 35-year-old should be rewarded for his ‘phenomenal’ impact at Old Trafford.
Speaking about the player of the year award, Jamie had this to say:
‘With Chelsea, you could make an argument for [David] Luiz, [Diego] Costa, [Eden] Hazard. And he’s [N’Golo Kante] been unbelievable at Chelsea,’ Carragher told Sky Sports.
‘With Zlatan, it’s more his age. He alone at United has been by far their best player.
‘He’s won that [EFL] Cup final and centre-forward’s the most difficult place to play, and he’s delivered at 35 years of age. It’s phenomenal.’
