Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has admitted that he loves playing for his country because he doesn’t get taken into account for his club.

The Mexican international was called up for their friendly this week, despite getting no game-time for United under David Moyes.

Little-Pea, as he is known, is behind the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Danny Welbeck at Old Trafford and has struggled to get first-team appearances this season, leading to speculation linking him with a move away in January.

However, no move was made and Hernandez remained a United player, and after being called up by Mexico, the striker revealed how thankful he was that they still give him the opportunity to play football.

“I’m very eager to play as my club don’t take me much into account. I hope I have the opportunity to play [for Mexico].

“When you are called up, you have to be thankful and if not called up, you have to keep working.

“I’m very happy and thankful with this call-up, like I was when I was called up for the first time.”

The 25-year-old has made just one appearance in the last 10-games, and with the World Cup just months away, he is left fearing that he may miss out on the squad due to lack of action.

It is believed that Juventus, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in Hernandez with United wanting around ÂŁ15million for his services.
