Stoke City are all but set to sign Wolfsburg striker Ivica Olic on a free transfer at the end of the current season.

The 34 year old striker’s deal at Wolfsburg runs out in June, and the Croatian international has stated that a Premier League club would be his “first choice”.

Olic has also been a target for clubs in the American MLS, and clubs in the middle east.

The experienced striker joined Wolfsberg from Bayern Munich in 2012, and has scored nine goals this season for the Bundesliga club.

He has also won 89 caps for his beloved country, and spearheaded their Euro 2008 campaign, knocking out England in the qualification stage.

Olic stated in an interview with German Media outlets last week….

‘There are many rumours about my future,’ he said. ‘The press are talking about me moving to United States, to Qatar, but Stoke City remains my first choice.

They are very serious and it would be really nice to play against Manchester United, Liverpool and other great English clubs.

‘But nothing is signed yet so anything can happen. I also have some offers from Germany, even my former club Hamburg wants me. Never say never. Right now, the only thing I can say is that I will make my decision this month.’
