Youngster will have tests TOMORROW
Charlton Athletic youngster Joe Gomez is set to undergo a medical at Liverpool tomorrow ahead of a proposed move.
The 18-year-old defender has only played 18 times for Charlton‘s first-team, but he’s highly-rated and expected to have a big future, seemingly with Liverpool.
Fourth Signing for Liverpool
Other clubs had been monitoring the Englishman, including Arsenal, but according to reports this morning, a medical is set to be completed tomorrow ahead of a £3.5million deal.
Gomez will become Brendan Rodgers‘ fourth Summer signing already, following the footsteps of James Milner, Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan.
The teenager has featured for England at U-16, U-17 and U-19 level so far and has playing experience in the Championship during his time at The Valley.
According to reports, Gomez will meet with Liverpool officials tomorrow and will take part in the club’s medical before putting pen to paper on a deal at Anfield.
Despite the medical being arranged and the fee being agreed, Charlton and Liverpool are still in talks about the smaller fees and clauses in the deal with the Championship side wanting a sell-on fee just in case The Reds sell him for big money in the future.
This will be Liverpool’s fourth signing so far with just £3.5m spent due to the other three being free transfers.
