Chelsea skipper confirms he’d never join rival team

Chelsea legend John Terry has confirmed that he would never complete a transfer like Petr Cech did when he agreed to move to Arsenal.

The veteran goalkeeper swapped Chelsea for Arsenal earlier this summer after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge due to Thibaut Courtois returning from a three-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid in Spain.

Cech’s Departure

Cech informed Chelsea officials that he wanted to leave but wanted to stay in London, meaning it was only likely that he would end up at the Emirates Stadium.

Due to his loyal services over the last 11 years, Roman Abramovich allowed Cech to move to Arsenal, despite Jose Mourinho not wanting the move to be finalised.

After being asked about seeing his team-mate leave for Arsenal, Terry confirmed that he would never complete a transfer to a direct rival or any other Premier League club for that matter.

Terry Rejects Premier League Move

“I could handle being out of the team,” he said.

“Petr Cech was a model professional last year and that is why he got the move he wanted, because of how well he reacted around the place.

“I have seen other players go the other way. I certainly would go down the Petr route and continue giving everything to the squad.

“If I then felt Chelsea were going to release me or thought I had nothing else to give, but I thought I could, then of course I would still want to continue to play. But that would not be in the Premier League.”
