Chelsea captain insists players had no part in Jose Mourinho dismissal
Chelsea defender John Terry has rubbished reports claiming the players were to blame for Jose Mourinho losing his job.
Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea on Thursday afternoon following a dismal start to the campaign, and immediately fingers were pointed at the players for letting the Portuguese down just months after winning the Premier League title.
Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard were accused of leading a revolt against Mourinho, but Terry has been quick to dismiss all speculation about the players.
Chelsea won 3-1 yesterday at Stamford Bridge against Sunderland, with Branislav Ivanovic, Pedro and Oscar all scoring, three players that didn’t perform for Mourinho earlier in the season.
No Player-Power
Speaking in the match-day programme, Terry was adamant that the players played no part in the decision to sack Mourinho.
“We leave all the decisions to Mr. Abramovich and the board and know our job, as players, is to focus on getting results on the pitch.”
