Liverpool starlet set to commit

Liverpool Football Club have been boosted with the news that Jordan Ibe will sign a contract extension at the club, with talks of a five-year deal being offered.

It was reported yesterday that the starlet had snubbed a new deal worth around £25k-a-week, three times his current wage, but according to this morning’s papers, an offer has been tabled and it’s likely to be accepted.

Breakthrough Season

The 19-year-old has had a breakthrough season at Anfield and is predicted a bright future under Brendan Rodgers, so the news of a long-term deal being signed will boost the atmosphere around the club.

Ibe spent a few months out on loan with Championship side Derby County before returning to Liverpool and making 12 senior appearances for Rodgers’ side.

Announcement Next Week

According to reports, the formalities of the deal still need to be agreed, but it’s likely that an announcement will be made some time next week before the final game of the season.

There were suggestions that Ibe could be off over the Summer, with some Premier League sides showing interest, but the latest news will certainly put off potential buyers.

Other Contract Sagas

The Reds will now turn their attentions to Martin Skrtel and Raheem Sterling, who are still yet to sign new deals at the club.

However, they have both informed Rodgers and the board that they won’t even discuss a new deal until the end of the season.
