Jordan Lukaku will not be joining Newcastle United this month.

The Lazio left-back was expected to join the Magpies but the deal collapsed after the medical.

Jordan Lukaku, who is also the younger brother of Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, was supposed to join Newcastle United this January. The player was expected to sign for the Magpies after a medical, which reportedly did not go as per expectations for the club and they decided not to go in with the deal. However, as per the reports, the player is not returning back to Italy as of now.

A statement from Newcastle United’s end confirmed that the deal has collapsed. It read, “Newcastle United can confirm that Jordan Lukaku will not be joining the club. The Belgian defender was on Tyneside on Friday after being given permission to travel by his current club, SS Lazio.”

It also read, “It has now been decided that a loan deal will not be pursued and the player will return to Rome. We wish Jordan all the best for the future.”

The Tyneside club has been in a complete conundrum regarding the financial condition, which was initially assumed to be the reason behind the deal getting collapsed. However, according to Sky Sports, as cited by Sportsmole, the real reason behind Newcastle United not signing Lukaku is due to a problem that was faced during the medical rather than the financial problems.
