The defender claims he has been ‘alienated’ on Merseyside

Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has expressed that the Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers has ‘alienated’ him, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini.

All three have been strongly tipped to leave Anfield in this summer transfer window after being deemed surplus to requirements. The trio weren’t even invited on the club’s pre-season tour.

The Spaniard, Balotelli and Borini have even been training away from the first team at Melwood, but Enrique admits he isn’t even unhappy at Liverpool and wants to fight for his place.

‘I’m in a difficult position’

The 29-year old said: “I’m in a difficult position, the club have alienated Balotelli, Borini and me.”

He also added: “I have a year left on my contract and I imagine the club will want to sell, but I still want to stay and fight as I always have.”

“In the squad here we only have one pure left-back in Alberto Moreno and I know that if I stay I’ll play. I want to prove that some are wrong,” exclaimed the ex-Newcastle United man, despite being the subject of interest from West Bromwich Albion and some La Liga sides.

“I will not give up. I know from experience that football changes from day to night,” said Enrique.
