Goalkeeper is set to leave club after ten years

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has spoken about Petr Cech’s future and how it could be away from Stamford Bridge.

The long-serving shot-stopper is set to call time on his West London career after 10-years as he eyes a move away in order to play regular first-team football.

The Czech has been dropped from the first-team for this season due to Thibaut Courtois returning from a three-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid and despite being determined to stay last Summer to win his spot back, he has now accepted that it may be time to move on.

A whole host of clubs are reportedly interested in Cech, with Arsenal and Liverpool keen on keeping him in the Premier League, and ahead of this weekend’s game with Stoke City, Mourinho gave the latest on his long-serving ‘keeper.

‘Petr Cech is not a player, he’s an institution,’ stated Mourinho. ‘Ten years in goal going through everything; great moments, sad moments, almost dying on the pitch.

‘He’s been through everything at this club. With institutions you have to deal with it in a different manner. He’s won the right to be looked at and respected in a different way, he’s won the right to be part of a discussion and a decision.

‘Obviously Chelsea gave him a lot, but with what he’s given and is still giving, he deserves a special perspective.’
