Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has criticised striker Romelu Lukaku for leaving the club without expressing his reasons behind the move.

The Belgium striker was superb last season for West Bromwich Albion, and it was widely speculated that he would become Chelsea’s number-one striker for this season.

However, that did not happen as the 20-year-old left Stamford Bridge on loan again, but this time, he went to Everton, where he has become a hit since completing the move.

Earlier on in the season, when questions were raised about Mourinho allowing Lukaku to leave on loan, the Chelsea boss said the striker wanted to leave as he wanted first-team football.

Since then, Lukaku himself has revealed that his parent-manager does not contact him at all and they haven’t spoken in two months and those accusations frustrated Mourinho, who spoke in his press conference today.

‘Romelu likes to speak. He’s a young boy who likes to speak. But the only thing he didn’t say is why he went to Everton on loan.

‘That’s the only thing he never says. And my last contact with him was to tell him exactly that. Why do you never say why you are not here? So it’s something he should (talk about) because he likes to speak.

‘It’s something he should say, the reason why he’s not with Chelsea and is in Everton.’
