Newly appointed Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has offered Red Devil veteran midfielder Michael Carrick a contract extension.
The victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final would of appeared to have been the 34-year-old’s last run for the club as his deal at Old Trafford was set to expire in a few weeks after former boss Louis van Gaal had not offered him a new deal.
Carrick’s departure looked certain in United’s final home game of the Premier League season 2015/16 against Bournemouth as he and his family seemed to bid an emotional farewell to the supporters and team mates.
However, it is now reported that the former West Ham United and Tottenham man is staying put at Old Trafford.
Now, Carrick’s time with the United is set to be extended for at least another 12 months following Mourinho’s appointment and has offered the England international a new deal worth a whopping £80,000 a week.
Reports also state the extension will begin in January 2017.
