Former-Chelsea boss tells agent he would take England role if it comes available

Jose Mourinho has told close friends and his agent Jorge Mendes that he would take the England job should it come available after the European Championships.

The Portuguese is currently unemployed after being sacked by Chelsea following their dismal start to the new campaign, and he was hotly tipped to be the new Manchester United manager, with pressure on Louis van Gaal continuing to grow.

However, according to reports, Mourinho has told his agent that he wants the England job should Roy Hodgson get sacked or choose to step down following the Euros.

England are preparing for the summer’s European Championships, which are being held in France, and it’s believed Hodgson could be out of a job should he not reach at least the quarter-finals.

Hodgson overlooked a shocking World Cup back in 2014, so pressure is on this time around to perform in a big tournament.

Mourinho Future

Mourinho is still keen on club management, but he’s desperate to stay in London, despite interest shown in him by AS Monaco, AS Roma and even Real Madrid.

If Mourinho cannot get a job in club management in England, he would be interested in taking the England hot-seat, as he once claimed it is high on his wish-list of managerial jobs.

However, he is still strong favourite to become the next Manchester United boss.
