Players have ‘adapted to Mourinho’s ways’

Jose Mourinho is set to hand Manchester United lifelines to Juan Mata and Daley Blind, who have reportedly ‘adapted to his ways’ at the club.

The pair are thought to have impressed Jose in training and in United’s opening Premier League fixture at Bournemouth on Sunday, which resulted in a 3-1 win for the Red Devils.

Mata and Blind were thought to be in the same group as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Marcos Rojo, who’s futures are also in doubt at Old Trafford.

As it stands, United have 31 players with Premier League experience training at Carrington, plus reserve keeper Sam Johnstone; nine more than the squad size their manager considers ‘optimal’.

Everton have pursued Mata, but having been switched from Chelsea to United by Mourinho for what was at that point a club-record transfer fee of ÂŁ37.1million, the Spanish forward refused to accept the drop in status involved in swapping Old Trafford for Goodison.
