Jurgen Klopp has praised Steven Gerrard’s managerial skills. The former Liverpool midfielder started his first full fledged coaching role at Rangers this summer.
Gerrard had a quite fascinating start to his managerial career as he led the Gers to the Europa League group stage. However, their 12 games unbeaten run came to a halt in the Old Firm derby as Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic snatched a narrow 1-0 win in the highly anticipated clash.
The 38 year old was in the charge for the Liverpool U-18s for a brief period but decided to move on as he took up the Rangers job. He was being touted as one of the strong contenders to manage the Reds in future but as of now, Klopp is doing a fine job at the Anfield so the club authority might not need a new name for the time being.
Klopp said, “He’s doing well.
“I’m not sure what Rangers fans expect.
“The start was brilliant and then he lost against Celtic. Wow, what a surprise!
“They’re the top team in the league and it’s not like they were 50 or 60 per cent better – like they have been in the past few years.
“They’re getting closer and that’s the only way to get them one day. That’s his job, but so far more than good.
“It was brilliant in Europe, he’s putting a good team together and they have to improve.”
