According to reports, Juventus are interested in signing Ajax teenager Matthijs de Ligt. Juventus have invited de Ligt to visit Turin and discuss about a transfer.
Juventus have kept close tabs on the Dutch defender since March, 2017 when Italy faced Netherlands at Amsterdam. De Ligt is one of the most talented young defenders in Europe at the moment and Juventus are eager to sign him. Juventus have some of the finest defenders in the world in Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo at their disposal and adding de Ligt will certainly fortify Juve’s defence and he would be beneficial in the longer run when the likes of Bonucci and Chiellini may retire.
De Ligt’s agent is Mino Raiola who played a key role in Paul Pogba’s transfer from Juventus to Manchester United. Juventus will count on Raiola to convince de Ligt to join the club.
However, the Bianconeri is not the only club who is interested in signing the 19-year old centre-back. Barcelona have also kept him on their radar for quite a while. The club’s President Josep Maria Bartholomeu has reportedly named him as a prime target.
Matthijs de Ligt has been playing for Ajax since 2016, making 74 appearances with 8 goals to his name. His performances for Ajax have been pretty good lately. Hence, Ajax might demand a high transfer fee for the Dutch defender.
