Kevin De Bruyne speaks out on Sanchez’s move to United

Pep Guardiola was keen to sign Sanchez earlier in the month but he joined United on Monday in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Kevin De Bruyne is confident Manchester City will continue to thrive without Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean superstar snubbed a move to the Etihad in favour of joining Manchester United.

Asked about Sanchez’s move to the red side of Manchester, Belgian midfielder De Bruyne said: “If it doesn’t go, it doesn’t matter, we will still do what we need to do, with or without him.

“And he chose United. There are a lot of good players. If they want to come, they want to come, and otherwise we will do it with our team.”

At the same time that United confirmed their deal for Sanchez, City also announced some significant news of their own, with De Bruyne extending his contract until 2023.

“I’m just staying for longer now. I’m very happy with the extension, obviously, and I think the team also,” he said
